New Doctor. New Look...

Those who know me (or have read this blog) know what a fan I am of Doctor Who harkening back to the days when it was first being broadcast on WGBH Boston. I completely understand there have been people who have been fans of the show longer back than that. However, for most American fans, the shows original run on PBS in the United States in the 1980's was our first introduction to the Doctor.

As much as I have enjoyed the actors who have portrayed the Doctor in the current series, I am thrilled about Peter Capaldi being cast as the Doctor. Its good to see an older actor being cast as the Doctor again. I use that term very VERY loosely because I do not consider 55 to be old.

But I think the program needed that change. Especially since the past two actors who have taken on the role had been on the relatively young side.

And I like the Doctor's new look as well. It very much reminds me of Third Doctor actor Jon Pertwee's look without the ruffles. Which was infact an accident. Pertwee's intention was to dress like The Master's Roger Delgado (seen to the right). Pertwee had shown up to a press call for the show in his Grandfather's old clothing. And the producers like the look so much on him that it stuck.

Now the maddening part is we'll have to wait till August or September to get our first glance at Peter Capaldi in action. However we do have Sherlock to pass the time right now.

The Black Widow Strikes Again (Color Art)

Now available on Bunny and the Badger: THE BLACK WIDOW STRIKES AGAIN!! A color version of an original piece which I did as part of a series of illustrations titled THE BLACK WIDOW MURDERS. The series would inspire me to adapt it into a graphic novel published by Alterna Comics titled DIARY OF THE BLACK WIDOW. The first graphic novel I ever produced.

Which was enjoyed by some. And reviled by Tom Knapp of the

I'm planning on creating color versions of a couple other illustrations from the series. In a way, these illustrations show a progression of the the characters and scenes which would ultimately appear in the graphic novel.

The image is available in 8x10, 11x14 and 16x20 and printed on high quality cardstock.

Andy Fish's Blog: Art All-State

Good friend of mine Andy Fish writes some really great blog posts that range from things in Pop Culture he enjoys to some very insightful views on politics and art. And he doesn't hold back any punches. Considering he was also a gold glove boxer.

His recent post about the future of Art All State at the Worcester Art Museum is no exception. Andy's been involved with Art All State for the past 10 years. And I know personally its something he's very passionate and proud of. And with art programs being cut nowadays, having something like Art All State is all the more important.

And from what I read on Andy's Blog, it's very possible there might be no Art All State this year. And that would be shameful.

I make a very poor substitution for Andy. So, I recommend you click on he link below to read Andy's posts on the subject:

Art Auction: The Bat-Man and Wonder Woman 1925

New artwork! Bid on The Bat-Man and Wonder Woman 1925. Illustrated in Sumi Black Japanese Drawing Ink with Crow Quill Pen on Canson Smooth Bristol Board. Colors added digitally.

This piece was actually inspired by the fact MeTV has been showing Batman and Wonder Woman side-by-side on their Sci-Fi Saturday Nights. I thought it would be great to show that visually.

The winning bidder will not only get the color art but they will also receive the original 9x12 pen and ink artwork used in the illustration.

Once the winning bid is met a print of the image will be made on 11x14 high quality glossy cardstock and SIGNED PERSONALLY to the winner of this auction and dated. Immediately after that, the file containing this image will be PERMANENTLY DELETED to ensure this to be a one of a kind piece.

Special Auction and what's new and exciting on Bunny and the Badger

It's very rare that I offer any of my older illustrations on E-Bay but for one time only I am offering the chance to bid on THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES. An illustration I originally did as part of a series of Sherlock Holmes illustrations I did between 2000 to 2004. This illustration was also published originally in the gallery section of my graphic novel based on William Gillette's play Sherlock Holmes: The Painful Predicament of Alice Faulkner and also appeared in my printed collection of Sherlock Holmes artwork A Study in Sherlock.

I am offering both a BUY IT NOW and BIDDING option for potential buyers. Buyers or bidders will received the artwork matted with the option of having it PERSONALLY SIGNED to you or to whomever you wish to give it as a gift.

The illustration measures 14x17 and was originally illustrated with Winsor Newton Black Drawing Ink.

Like I mentioned, this will probably be the only time I offer it in an auction setting. Click on the link to check it out and start bidding:

I am also offering several of the original Sherlock Holmes illustrations I did for purchase via Bunny and the Badger. All artwork will be matted and signed to the buyer upon request. Click on the link below:

These are the Sherlock Holmes illustrations currently for sale. All illustrations measure 16x20 and were illustrated on Bainbridge Number 30 Cold Press Illustration Board and illustrated in Pelikan Black Drawing Ink with Crow Quill Pen and Brush. Which was what I did most of my early illustration work on until I switched over to Canson Smooth Bristol Board. I have also gone through several different inks since those days as well.
