Experimenting in a little digital Pop Art Painting. In the style of Roy Lichtenstein. Something I've wanted to do for several Summers but am just getting to doing it now.
My subject is a panel from DETECTIVE COMICS #328 which famously "kills off" Batman's trusty butler Alfred and introduces Dick "Robin" Grayson's Aunt Harriet. The panel in question is Batman's reaction to the unseen death of Alfred.
Which my wife Syd's comment was that it looked more like exasperation and annoyance rather than grief. Yeah, the original panel Batman really looks more like he's exasperated that Robin had an accident in his green short rather than being upset over Alfred being smeared by a giant boulder.
The piece itself is mixed media. Batman was inked in Sumi Black Japanese Drawing Ink with Brush. The colors, lettering and effects were all added digitally.
And I have to say, the piece was a great deal of fun to work on.
