The Doctor meets Dr. Who

Original artwork by the artist. Illustrated in Deleter #4 Black Drawing Ink with Crow Quill Pen on Canson Smooth 9x12 Bristol Board.

An idea that came about after a chat with writer Paul Magrs who asked if I had done any artwork with the first TARDIS crew of the Doctor, Susan, Barbara and Ian.

And suddenly the idea popped into my head about an illustration where the Doctor and his companions sidestep into a parallel dimension and run into their big screen counterparts from the first Dr. Who and the Daleks films starring Peter Cushing. Sort of like how the Tenth Doctor runs into the Fifth Doctor in mini episode Time Crash.

For anyone unfamiliar with Doctor Who, the show really didn't become a hit until the Daleks made their first appearance in 1963 after a few episodes into the show. This spawned a full color big budget version of the television story in 1965. For the movie Peter Cushing was chosen to play the Doctor in the movie over television Doctor William Hartnell. And Cushing's character is known as Dr. Who in the movie.

Which is the only time the character is actually referred to by that name where it didn't involve a pun where one character says, "That's the Doctor!" and another character replies "Doctor? Doctor who?"
