See you at Indie Art Market at Beatnik's

February is nearly over and the first day of March is next Tuesday! Which means Spring will be arriving soon. AND Indie Art Market is NEXT WEEK!!

Beatnik's Bar on Park Ave. in Worcester holds Indie Art Market the first Tuesday of every month. And after missing out on it because of the snowstorms this month, I am thrilled that the next one is right around the corner!!

And I believe a couple of my art chums Derek Ring and Scott Holloway will be taking part in this Indie Art Market as well!! So come on out and see us all.

Beatnik's has great food and great drinks on tap. I've had their burgers, sandwiches and wraps. All of which are really good. They also offer Wormtown Beer on tap. If you haven't had the chance to sample any of the Wormtown brews as of yet I highly recommend you have Niki or Josh pull you a pint!! It's a really great little microbrew to come out of the fair metropolis of Worcester. I've been down to their brewery in Peppercorns and the guys at Wormtown were all really nice.

If you have not had the chance to check out Indie Art Market yet I highly recommend you come on out this coming Tuesday! Hope to see you all there!!

Another Feb Fun in the books!!

I think I've been teaching classes during February Fun Week since I started working at the Worcester Art Museum in 2003. They were pretty overwhelming the first few years I started working here but they seem to have become a little less stressful every year.

But that could be just because I've finally gone crazy. That's debatable ;-)

My last class of the day was a bit of adventure. But that's to be expected with 5-7 year olds right after lunch. It's Friday. They just ate and the energy levels are at an all time high while their ability to focus has hit an all time low. I usually don't do 5-7 year olds very much. However, I do have two classes coming up in the Spring that are for that age group. Normally I'm dong the 8 to 10 or the 11 to 13 year olds with a 14 to 17 year old class thrown in here or there.

But somehow I ended up getting walloped with quite a few 5-7 year old classes this year. I have those types of school years from time to time. But then again this is one of those years where the Groundhog actually DIDN'T see his shadow, so anything goes.

Well, the day is done. I got a couple art commissions out of the way and I'm getting ready to hit up the Loving Hut with Sydney later. Last night I took her to the India Cafe for the first time. Which was my first time there since they remodeled the place. It looks great and the food is just as delicious as I remember it being the last time I was there.

But tonight we thought we needed our fix of the Loving Hut. Definitely check out both places when you have the opportunity.

My work available on Cafe Press

To be honest, I kind of forgot about the site until I received a check from them about a week ago. All $29 of it. However, it was a pleasant surprise that people were still checking out the site and buying my work off of it. So, I set forth yesterday and the day before completely revamping the site with new images on t-shirts, prints, mugs, totes, beer steins. As well as a a few new fun items.

Click on the link below to check it out. And please pass it along to anyone you know who might be interested:

A cure for the common cold: Wasabi!!

Well, it seems once again I've been very rudely visited by the cold season. I could feel it coming on last when I was out at dinner. And I hate getting a cold about as much as I hate the long Winter months. And I hate Winter!!

However, I do prefer to get a cold in the Winter rather than the Summer. A Summer cold is far worse because of the heat and humidity. So, it makes being stuffy all the more unbearable. But back to my story at hand.

When it comes to a cold I go into total shutdown mode. No beer at all until the cold has passed, stock up on Tylenol Cold Syrup during the night and DayQuil Capsules during the day (both most likely are the generic CVS brand, mind you) and I double up on Vitamin C pills and overdose on Orange Juice.

Also, a good buddy of mine Andy Fish mentioned in his own blog that he also takes Wasabi when he's sick. I haven't tried this remedy yet but I LOVE wasabi. Actually, I just had some when Sydney and I went out to a place called Tenka's in Westborough a couple nights ago and it blew my socks off.

It sort of stands to reason that wasabi would help. For anyone who has ever tried wasabi will know it feels like all the contents of your skull just got burned away. So if anything can annihilate a common cold, I'm more than certain it's wasabi!!

So, seeing how I'm already a day into my cold and it's driving me nuts, I may have to suggest to Sydney the possibility of going back to Tenka's on Friday night...

...for medicinal purposes naturally ;-)

Having a Birthday on Valentines Day

Since February 14th 1976 I've been celebrating my Birthday on Valentines Day. And honestly I can't think of anything worse.

Well, except for celebrating your Birthday on Christmas.

Or finding out Hitler was your real Father.

I suppose what I hate most of all about Valentines Day is the fact that it makes these arrogant self-absorbed unattentives turds the delusion that they have a free out of prison pass. The think they can act like a jerk and neglect their significant other all year long but then they make up for it once a year by buying their mate a dozen roses or a box of chocolates.

And that makes up for it!!

For all you nice guys and gals out there who are kind and thoughtful all year round, I think you should feel insulted.

Oh well. I have some nice plans for my Birthday nonetheless. My tradition has been to order Chinese Food and watch a Dracula film. This year I'm going to try and watch this BBC adaptation of Dracula from the 70's.

Anyways, Happy Martyred Saint Day ;-)
