| This is how I imagine Ben Affleck will look as Batman. |
Yep!! Having trouble putting the two words together in the same sentence. Ben Affleck and Batman. Not saying Christian Bale was the ultimate Batman either. The Dark Knight voice immediately comes to mind. One side of my brain says, "Well, Michael Keaton was considered miscasted in the Tim Burton films at the time and now he's still remembered as Batman". However, the other side of my brain wants to kill that side of my brain and says "Remember Daredevil?" and this casting is Val Kilmer and George Clooney all over again. I don't know folks.

Affleck is considered a more seasoned & acclaimed actor these days; we could as pleasantly surprised as when we actually saw Michael Keaton in that trailer for the 1989 film - it really depends on what they do with him in the film.
I don't recall Keaton being as controversial with the general public as many people say nowadays..What I remember is a lot of people expecting a big-budget reprise of the 1966 TV series - what Tim Burton came up with was a complete surprise, nobody anticipated it.
Casting a live-action Batman usually happens during a fallow period; Keaton's only other competition for the role was a bunch of generic 80s "actors" - action movie stars. Val Kilmer & George Clooney were cast when nobody was looking; Christian Bale got it when everyone thought Hollywood was creativly brain-dead; Affleck got it because Bale said no (and maybe...just maybe...he's just as bored as we were with his Batman by the end of TDKR).
